Gran Kahuna is one of the most
comfortable hostels in beautiful Bocas del Toro, which is well known for
having some of the best surfing in the Caribbean. Even though
foreigners have been coming to Bocas for more than ten years, it was not
until recently that Bocas became a surfer's and backpacker's
destination. Gran Kahuna Hostel opened recently, becoming the first surf
orientated hostel in Bocas del Toro and all of Panama, offering clean
rooms complete with brand new utilities and a happy and helping staff
ready to make your stay in Bocas as easy going as possible. We are the
most easiest hostel to find in Bocas since we are in the main street,
centrally located and facing the ocean. The Hostel consists of several
rooms on our two storey Caribbean style building with:

HIGH SEASON:
Starts from November till April, Bocas main months when the parties are
crazy and the surf is world class. Beds range $12-$14 a night. There are
also discounts for those who rent an entire room or staying more than
one week.
LOW SEASON:
Starts from May and ends in October, fewer tourists but also there is a
small surfing period during this time where you can find good surfing
and usually enjoy it all to yourself. Beds range from $10-$12 a night.
Bocas del Toro has a lot of interesting hostels to
choose from but none that can compare to the cleanness and awesome
groove that you can find at the GRAN KAHUNA.
HOW TO GET THERE...
FROM THE BORDER:
Take a taxi to Changuinola, Finca 60, then a water taxi to Isla Colon,
we are located 100m to the left when you arrive. This would all costs
about $10.
BY BUS FROM DAVID-CHIRIQUI:
Take a bus from the international bus terminal in David to
Almirante/Changuinola. Let the driver know ahead of time that you want
to stop at Almirante. The bus takes about 4 hours to arrive at
Almirante. From there take a taxi to any water taxi that goes to ISLA
COLON, we are to the left when you arrive.
BY BUS FROM PANAMA CITY:
Take a bus from Albrook International Bus Terminal in Panama City,
usually you can take a direct bus from Panama City to Almirante for
about $25, the ride is approximately 10 hours. When you arrive in
Almirante take a water taxi to Isla Colon.
BY AIR PLANE:
Aeroperlas and Air Panama have several daily flights from Panama City to
Bocas, David to Bocas, and even Costa Rica to Bocas. From the airport
take a taxi to the Gran Kahuna Hostel, we pay for the transportation.
